Yes, this movie is still in the making!

So it has been a long road, and a long time since we have last posted. After a short break while Jenny was in school, and I was planning my wedding, we have been able to fully dedicate ourselves to this project again.  Jenny Tunberg has been eating, sleeping, and breathing editing! Brian and I have been working on promotional stuff on our end. But, great news… the Teaser Trailer is done and officially on youtube!

Watch it, comment on it… but most of all enjoy it and share it with your friends and family! We are looking at a Winter 2010 release. More details will be coming soon as we are in communications with the theatres. Thanks for your interest! And our official website will be up and running soon

 

Still Going Strong at 5am

Alrighty so my name is Jenny Tunberg and I am the Director of photography for the film Identity.  We just got done shooting our second long night at the Davenport skybridge, running shooting, and driving like crazy people!  We actually sent out main character, Elizabeth (Joey Milano)  home to get some rest before another big day, so I had to put on her wig and be her stunt driver….let me just say, I was on cloud nine with excitement!!  It was basically awesome and I wanted to keep speeding around getting shot at…but it became 4am and we needed a little rest.  So we’re chilling for about an hour or two before we head to our next shoot downtown Moline at 6:45am…so that means no sleep for us.  What an exciting and great way to finish off filming before I head off to film school tomorrow (sunday).  But for right now, Steve and I are headed to the gas station for energy drinks and food…wish us luck!

An Hour A Minute

Hi, I’m Gary (aka: Paul).  I’m part of the new movie, “Identity,” being shot right now in the Quad Cities.  Did you know it takes one hour of shooting time for every minute you see on the screen at the theater?  Yup. Part of that is because the director and cast have A.D.D.    naw…j/k.  Although we did discover last night that David can’t play the ukaleli (or however you spell it).  Actually, having fun on set is an important part of the process (or so we tell ourselves).  The relaxed atmosphere helps a great deal in the feel of “reality” as you are actually shooting a scene.  One other thing.  I’ve been in theater as an writer/director/actor for a long time.  Acting for theater is waaaaaaay different than acting for movies.  It’s taking some getting used to, but I like it.

Tell ya what.  This is going to be one “P”owerful movie, and that rhymes with “T” and that stands for Tunberg…er, I mean, Terrific.  Course that works too.  Jenny is terrific behind the lens.  Just ask her to show you the “scrunch and run” the next time you see her.  Or, ask her about her doctrinal beliefs about spiders.  (Although those two things may sound like they are tied together, they’re actually different).

We’ll talk later.  Just wanted to say, “hi” and introduce myself.   Later!

 

My first day filming

Hey, my names Hope ( a.k.a Miranda) and today was the first day of filming for me… It was pretty nerve-racking at first, mostly because I was just coming into this sort of industry and this setting and the people that I was working with have been doing it for a couple weeks so I felt a little out of place. But once I sort of watched other people do a couple scenes and was joking around with them, it felt a lot more natural and a lot more in my comfort-zone. On some of the scenes I was in I did mess up and stutter a little bit with my lines but everyone just laughed and we did another take so it was no big deal. I really enjoyed it, we got to bake and then eat cookies for one scene which was nice haha. We joked around a lot but we knew when to get serious for a scene. I had so much fun and I can’t wait until the next time I film!…. I cannot wait until the end product for this project! It will be so fun to see what we’ve accomplished!… Hopefully you’ll see it too!

Operatin booms and savin the world…yea.

The movie is coming along really well, I think people are going to really enjoy it when it comes out. Being behind the camera and still feeling the emotion of the scenes is pretty good so I can’t imagine what it will be like without a boom mic hovering over people’s heads.

A lot of indie films are criticized for having bad acting, and I think I have a good eye for bad acting; however I can honestly say that I am really impressed with the acting I’ve seen thus far. People have been really nailing their parts, and offering some moving acting, I think you’ll agree when the movie comes out.

I mainly wanted to update this to post a little video I made of some shots that Joey and Jenny filmed, unfortunately I can’t get it to work tonight. But here’s a funny video about Dan Dan the Boom Operator, you can view it here.

 

Let the show begin!

So yesterday we had a great day of filming. We filmed the opening scenes of the movie, which was a lot of fun. Thankfully I knew the people I was filming with before yesterday because it was easy to have chemistry and being on set was a lot of fun. Jon Wallace II plays Philip, and Misty Wallace plays Lois. They did a wonderful job with their scenes. Very natural and comfortable.

It was an monday morning before school, so we had some food as props. Props are always fun to work with because they give you something to do. But at the same time they are difficult, especially food, because you have to use it so many times. So for this scene we used poptarts and they kept breaking, and they smelt so good so all I wanted to do was eat them.

David was on camera because Jenny was out of town, Scuba Steve was on boom mic, Brian was on slate, and Ryan helped with lights and setting up each scene. We filmed 2 scenes in about 3 hours. It was a very nice laid back day, not stressful at all- which is always a plus! Everything went very smoothly.

Rocky Road Ice Cream

It has been a busy week of preparations. David has been out all week because his family got sick, and their house was hit by the storm. Praise God for his protection-they are all starting to feel better!  Jenny and I have been working on pre-production all week. Setting up Elizabeth’s room, taking photos for the house, making prop lists, getting schedules in order. Lots of minor details.

Since we’ve had a few set backs this week, we haven’t filmed anything yet, but it was good to get some of these other details in order. We are scheduled to film tomorrow a really fun montage scene in a public dirty restroom which I’m excited about. We also are auditioning someone for one of the lead police officers and are taking some promo photos.

Today we went to the wig store…so much to say, but don’t want to give anything away. It was a very strange experience, but hilariously strange, not awkwardly strange. Betty’s Wig Store is a really cool store in downtown davenport. You should go check them out, if not to wear a wig for real, for a party or something. It’s actually really fun to have a completely different look for the day.

Another great company you should check out is Whitey’s Ice Cream. They are amazingly generous and are helping us out so much! We couldn’t be making this movie without them and their support. It’s absolutely wonderful to see who God has brought in our paths to help make this movie possible.

We made a lot of graphics today as well, which was productive.

I think thats it for now, tomorrow is a long day and I should call it a night.

Stay updated on the new movie by Dac Films, Identity

Hey everybody,

This is a place to keep people informed on a new feature length independent film known as Identity being produced by DAC films. This blog will be moderated by Brian Havenner.

I had the pleasure of being on the set as production commenced on Identity. Those present were writer and director David Clevenger, Assistant Director and Director of Photography Jenny Tunberg, actress and co-writer Joey Milano, Lead Editor Scuba Steve (and boom mic holder), and James (don’t know his last name) but he was helping with the slate for awhile.

A montage was filmed, and I had the opportunity to just hang out and see the goings on of a set. I have been fascinated by film since I was in JR high, trying to film some even back then so it feels good to finally be a part of a organized film set.
